Parenting Through Divorce, Presented by Sandy Bailey, Ph.D
Parenting Through Divorce is the topic of this FYI Session. Parenting through and after divorce is different from parenting in a two-parent intact family. Divorcing parents need to make a shift from parenting as partners to being business associates. This session will discuss how the stressor of divorce impacts the entire family; strategies for effective parenting during and after this transition; and ideas for self care.
Sandy Bailey, Ph.D., CFLE is an Associate Professor and Extension Specialist with Montana State University Extension. She holds a doctorate in Family Studies with a minor in Child Development. QPR Training Presented by Joan Nye, Chair-Montana Chapter of American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer -- 3 simple steps that anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying "Yes" to saving the life of a friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor.

Stages of Change Presented by Karen Finke, LCPC
Is there a behavior or habit in your life that you would like to change? For example, would you like to eat healthier, quit smoking, increase your spirituality, or respond differently in certain situations with family or friends? Have you tried to change something in your life, became frustrated, and quit? Behavior change is rarely an isolated single event, and it is not typically quick and easy. Behavior change is best understood as a process that includes identifiable stages that a person moves through to achieve a desired change. This session will provide an overview of the stages of change a person moves through, driving forces that encourage a person to move to the next stage of change, and restraining forces that tend to hold a person back. The discussion will also review ways to encourage new behaviors to help a person move forward to the next stage of change and tips on how to handle a slip or relapse back to a previous stage of change.
FYI is an educational call-in program the first Tuesday of every month from 6 to 7PM featuring a wide variety of interesting topics. Pre-registration is required to receive the call-in directions as well as any materials related to the topic.
